Details
Season 13 dealt with the departure of Detective Elliot Stabler from the Special Victims Unit after a shooting in the squad room; Meloni chose to depart the series instead of renewing his contract. Mariska Hargitay, who has portrayed Detective Olivia Benson since the show's inception, becomes series lead. Detective Benson now works with two new detectives coming to the SVU squad, Detective Nick Amaro and Detective Amanda Rollins, portrayed by Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish respectively. As of this season, Law & Order: SVU's executive producer/show runner was former Law & Order: Criminal Intent executive producer/show runner, Warren Leight, replacing Neal Baer who began working on a new CBS medical drama, A Gifted Man (which was canceled due to low ratings)
